In case you were wondering about the name of the blog, my eldest’s favourite movie from about the age of 2 was Mary Poppins (closely followed by Chitty Chitty Bang Bang). The final song from the film, ‘Let’s go fly a kite’ has become a bit of a family anthem. It is our ‘go to’ song when we are feeling happy, or need cheering up. My husband, in particular, has taken it into his heart and would be more than happy to give you a word-perfect rendition at the drop of a hat should you be interested. I felt that the lyrics were perfect for describing one of our main reasons for wanting to home educate our children. In order to experience the joys of living children need very little, just a tuppence for paper and string, time to create beautiful objects, and the flexibility to drop everything else and go fly a kite when the need strikes. I hope we can give the girls every opportunity to grow their own set of wings.
